Holiday Happiness Happening at the Always There Adult Day Program!

On December 10th we were delighted to welcome Lyric and her dad Sean, to the program to celebrate the miracle of Hannukah. We joined together in song and prayer with the lighting of the menorah complete with candles that were handmade by Lyric. On December 13th the clients were treated to a holiday visit from the 5th and 6th grade students of Kingston Catholic School. The room was filled with holiday songs and many smiles. December 18th was the ADP Sing-along. The Always There Home Care staff was invited to share cookies and apple cider with our ADP clients. The songs of the holiday could be heard throughout the building as we lifted our voices in song. A special surprise visitor (you guessed it….SANTA) along with Mrs. Clause and one of his top elves stopped by to spread some cheer.
Three wonderful ways to celebrate the holidays and spread some joy along the way!
Happy Holidays from all of us at the Adult Day Program. Here’s hoping that 2013 brings you joy, happiness, good health and wonderful surprises.

Dyson Foundation Awards $10,000 Grant to the Always There Adult Day Program!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kingston, New York ~ December 20, 2012
The Dyson Foundation has awarded a grant of $10,000 over 2 years to Always There Family Home Care for its Social Model Adult Day Program recently opened in Dutchess County at the Clinton Alliance Youth Center (1192 Centre Road, Rhinebeck, NY).  The Dyson Foundation grant will provide financial assistance (based on income) for those who cannot afford the $45 daily fee and have no other source of funding for the services, such as Managed Medicaid programs or EISEP (Expanded In-home Services for the Elderly) funds.  Deborah Glassey, the Executive Director of Always There, “thanks the Dyson Foundation for its support of Always There’s mission to assist seniors to remain at home with their loved ones where they are most comfortable rather than in an institution.”

The Always There Adult Day Program is approved by the New York State Office for Aging and is currently open every Wednesday from 9 am to 3 pm. The Clinton Alliance Church graciously donates the space and provides volunteers for the program.  The program provides quality opportunities for the frail elderly and disabled to socialize and participate in activities that provide mental stimulation and promote physical well-being.  Activities include visits by a pet therapist and the local librarian as well as chair exercises and brain games.  A morning snack and lunch are provided.  The program also gives the caregiver a needed break.

The Dyson Foundation is a private, family-directed grant making foundation established in 1957.  The Foundation is led by Robert R. Dyson, who has served as the Foundation’s President since 2000.
Headquartered in Millbrook, (Dutchess County) NY, the Foundation awards grants through a diverse
regional funding program in the Dyson family’s home community of the Mid-Hudson Valley of New York State. The Dyson Foundation also makes grants outside the Hudson Valley to pre-selected
organizations.  The Foundation’s assets presently stand at approximately $240 million and in the year
2011 it awarded grants in excess of $19.5 million.

Always There Family Home Care is an affiliate of Always There and Always There Family Home Health Services.  All are 501(c)3 organizations.  The Always There Family was established in Ulster County in 1970 by the Junior League of Kingston.  Together they provide skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, medical social work services, nutritional education, and personal care services to all ages, and Adult Day Program services to seniors in Ulster County.  In Dutchess County the organizations provide personal care services to all ages, and Adult Day Program services to seniors.
